Welcoming the SHIP 2023 class

The Dr. Samuel Edwards Summer Health Internship Program (SHIP) is just around the corner!
We are thrilled to announce that our selected students have already begun their training in various healthcare settings. This intensive program is designed to provide high school seniors residing in Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Piru with a unique opportunity to explore medical professions firsthand.
SHIP is a paid internship program. We believe in recognizing the hard work and dedication of our talented students. By partnering with local medical clinics and hospitals, we ensure that our interns gain valuable experience in a realistic and professional environment.
Join us in supporting these bright young minds as they embark on their journey toward a fulfilling career in the healthcare industry.

Announcing the Dr. Alan Peterson Scholarship Recipients

We are thrilled to share that our selection committee has chosen an exceptional group of high school seniors as the recipients of the prestigious Dr. Alan Peterson Scholarship. Each of these talented individuals has been awarded this scholarship to support their pursuit of higher education in the field of healthcare.
Since its establishment in 2007, our annual and renewable scholarships have been empowering and uplifting students from Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Piru. We believe in investing in the future of healthcare by providing financial assistance to those passionate about making a positive impact in the industry.

2021 Dr. Sam Edwards' Summer Health Internship Program & Dr. Alan Peterson Scholarship Applications Available

December 18, 2020

Applications for the Dr. Alan Peterson Scholarship are now open for those residing in Fillmore, Santa Paula and Piru. This renewable scholarship has been awarded for 9 continuous years.

The Dr. Sam Edwards Summer Health Internship Program is also accepting applications for Summer 2021. This program allows high school students to explore the medical field through shadowing various departments of the hospital. 

All applications close January 29, 2021.

The Santa Clara Valley Wellness Foundation is now accepting applications for their summer internship and annual scholarship. They are also seeking medical professions to help continue their mission: for health care education in the community.

Boys & Girls Club SCV Receives $26,000 Grant

May 13, 2020

The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley have joined forces with the Santa Clara Valley Wellness Foundation. This generous donation will allow for the purchase of PPE and further support the Boys and Girls Clubs to reopen in Fillmore, Santa Paula and Piru. 
This grant has also allowed the Boys and Girls Club to purchase a 3D printer and produce face shields which will be distributed to health care clinics across Santa Clara Valley.

"The third annual Santa Clara Valley Wellness Foundation SHIP (Summer Health Internship Program) is giving six teenagers the opportunity to experience a wide variety of possible health care careers with the Ventura County Health Care Agency."

Big Turnout for Free Fillmore Health Fair

Many families from the Santa Clara Valley attended the Fillmore Health Fair, which offered free access to a variety of health care services.
